Ukelele

STRING INSTRUMENT

The ukulele was invented in the 19th Century in Hawaii, where people got the idea from small guitar-like instruments known as cavaquinhos brought to the island by Portuguese  sailors.

The ukulele (pronounced /ˌjʉːkəˈlɛɪli/ from the Hawaiian ʻukulele, pronounced /ˈʔukuˈlɛlɛ/) is a musical instrument with four strings. It is also called the uke for short. Ukuleles are part of the guitar family of instruments.

Beautiful Instument

If you’ve always wanted to learn an instrument but never got around to it, the ukulele is an excellent choice! It’s ideal for beginning musicians because it only has four strings.

Conroe Music and Art Academy’s Ukelele course is ideal for absolute beginners and is designed to get you started on the ukulele. In a fun and supportive group setting, participants will learn fundamental techniques, chords, strumming patterns, and fingerstyle. Every detail has been carefully considered so that by the end of the course, you will not only have the necessary skills to play the songs you love, but you will have already begun!

Why the Ukelele?

Its soft nylon strings are gentler on your fingertips and don’t create finger pain like guitars do. The small size reduces wrist tension because the notes are reachable without stretching. Plus, it only has four strings, which makes chord shapes and scales easier to learn.
